Planting & growing advice

Spring-flowering bulbs can bring colour back to the garden when it is most welcome. Always follow the planting guidance supplied with your particular variety, as requirements can vary.

Snowdrops

Snowdrops are well suited to woodland-style planting, shady borders and naturalistic drifts. Plant in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil and avoid allowing newly planted bulbs to dry out.

Bluebells

English bluebells are particularly effective when naturalised in grass, beneath deciduous trees or in informal woodland-style areas. Choose a site with good drainage and allow them room to spread over time.

Daffodils

Daffodils are versatile bulbs for borders, lawns and containers. Plant in well-drained soil and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.

Other spring bulbs

Alliums, hyacinths, muscari and fritillarias each have their own preferences. Check the individual product information before planting and choose a position appropriate to the variety.
